Secondary suites are a great way to generate rental income for a homeowner’s property. The City of Vancouver now allows every detached single- and multi-family home with RS, RM and RT zones (Zoning Information). Homeowners must order a special inspection by the City in order to convert an unapproved suite to approved use. The City’s inspector will tell homeowners what upgrades or changes must be made before a secondary suite is legalized.
